My friend glanced at the list of words below and said, "Each of these words has a letter which can be struck out."

I studied the list and said, "Uh, bro, you better get your eyeglasses checked. I don't see any superfluous letters in these words."

has a letter that can be eliminated to make a new word. But not only that... the letter can be replaced by a hyphen.
